About the Forest Resilience Trail
In the wake of the 2017 Jolly Mountain Fire that threatened the City of Roslyn and our surrounding communities, the City committed to working in our municipally owned forest as well as with surrounding property owners to enhance forest health and improve fire resiliency by embarking on a long-term effort to reduce fuels and create fire suppression infrastructure (potential control lines and fuel breaks) around the City and throughout the Cle Elum Watershed.
Since 2017 much work has been completed and much more remains to be done. This trail utilizes existing trails and occasional fire lines and roads to allow a self-guided tour of work completed and work in progress. Work is on-going and we ask that you please obey trail closures for your safety and the safety of crews in the field.
A variety of forest health treatments have occurred and are planned including commercial logging, pre-commerical thinning, mastication/mulching, hand crew work, and prescribed fire.
